It all begun, when Trevor shot over the green at hole #6, executed a solid bunker shot, but missed the putt. At the same hole Ernie made a birdie and put himself in front. On the second nine Trevor could manage 3 birdies, but Ernie took literally off. Ernie Els played a 65 and won with –24, although he allowed himself a final boogie at the 18th hole. It all started for him at the 12th hole, where he successful holed a long birdie put. "This was a real break for me". Ernie said.
