Ford gives club golfers a great chance to play for their country
BRENTWOOD, 18 February, 1999 -- All records will be broken this year when more than 150,000 golfers from 1,250 clubs throughout Britain compete for the honour of representing their country in the Ford Home Internationals.

Sponsored by Ford for the past 34 years, the amateur golf tournament is one of the largest and most successful of its kind in the world and gives ordinary club players an exciting chance to win through to represent either England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland.

Preliminary rounds supported by Ford Dealerships will be staged at the players' own clubs during the next four months, with the winners progressing to regional finalist - eight in England, two each in Scotland and Wales and one in Northern Ireland.

The top qualifiers from those events will then compete in eight-player teams for their countries in the Ford Home International Finals to be held at the prestigious San Roque Club in southern Spain in October.
