New high-performance variants from Saab: Saab 9-5 Aero and Saab 9-3 Aero
.
The Saab 9-5 Aero is the latest addition to the 9-5 line. The 2.3-litre high-performance turbocharged engine and the lowered sports chassis give the Saab 9-5 Aero a combination of excellent performance and handling. The same applies to the Saab 9-3 Aero which is powered by a 205 bhp turbo engine, has an aerodynamically modified exterior, a stiffer chassis, and a special interior that includes dished seats.

Saab launched its first Aero model at the Brussels Motor Show in 1984. The response of car buyers was immediate, and the Aero variants of the Saab 900 and Saab 9000 remained two of the most desirable Saab cars for many years. The demand for Aero variants of today's cars has now led to Saab launching Aero versions of the Saab 9-5 and Saab 9-3. Just like their predecessors, the new Aero models from Saab have been developed for motorists who want performance-oriented variants of cars from the Saab model range.

The new Saab 9-5 Aero is powered by the latest full-pressure turbo engine from Saab. The displacement is 2.3 litres and the engine rating is 230 bhp. With a manual gearbox, the engine delivers a torque of 350 Nm at a modest 1900 rpm (330 Nm on cars with automatic transmission). The Saab 9-5 Aero will be available as either a saloon or a Wagon version. Characteristic features of both include a front spoiler, profiled sill covers and a rear bumper extension, all of which enhance the dynamic impression made by the 9-5 model and improve ist aerodynamics. A lowered and stiffer suspension, more powerful brakes and 17-inch light alloy wheels contribute towards even more spirited road behaviour of the car.

The Aero versions of the Saab 9-5 and Saab 9-3 will be unveiled at the Frankfurt International Motor Show on 14 September this year, and sales on most markets will begin at the same time.
