Currently, Qin is responsible for developing and implementing marketing communications initiatives to reach Asian American consumers and promoting GM's philanthropic efforts and community outreach activities to external audiences. She began her career with GM as a summer intern working on the Women's Initiative at GM's Corporate Communications Group in 2000. In January 2001, she joined the Cadillac division as a communications manager. Prior to coming to GM, Qin was a Senior Account Executive at L3 Advertising Inc. in New York City from 1994 to 1999. In her current role as manager of GM Corporate Communications, Qin has been instrumental in assisting GM grow its Asian American market share through an integrated approach with GM Vehicle Sales Services and Marketing and GM Public Policy Center. In addition, Qin has elevated GM's prominence with key national Asian American organizations such as Organization of Chinese Americans (OCA), Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA), and National Association of Asian American Professionals (NAAAP). Qin is involved in the communities in which she works, lives and travels. She has participated in the Junior Achievement Program teaching at the Detroit elementary schools, and helped the Michigan Opera Theatre promoting artists of diverse cultural backgrounds. Qin also serves on the Board of Association of Chinese Americans (ACA). Qin received her M.S. in Integrated Marketing Communications from the Medill School of Journalism of Northwestern University in 2000, and a B.A. in Communications/Media Studies from Hunter College of City University of New York in 1994. Formed in October 2001, CAG currently has close to 500 members with the membership open to all GM active, full-time salaried employees. CAG aims to promote cultural diversity and provides value-added services to GM and GM employees with Chinese heritage. Additionally, CAG supports GM's global business objectives and initiatives; assists professional and career development of its members; and provides opportunities for social and community interactions.
